Bee Pollen

Bee pollen is taken from beehives. It is a mixture of flower pollen, nectar, and bee digestive enzymes. Bee pollen is harvested at commercial farms made especially for the purpose. Some bee pollens are now simulated in laboratories.
How much should I take?

The pollen is usually put into a pill or capsule. These range from 500-1000 milligrams in consistency. The pills are generally taken three times a day.

Dangerous allergies

Bee pollen can present a significant danger to anyone allergic to bees or honey. The symptoms of allergy can include itching and rash. In serious cases the patient’s throat will close and they will die. Immediate medical attention is required in such cases.

The allergy is important to note because some herbalists celebrate the use of bee pollen in curing such allergies. The argument goes that a regular small dose of bee pollen will mimic the effects of a vaccine. Unfortunately the concentration of available capsules and pills is not strong enough to replicate vaccines.

Bee pollen should also be avoided by anyone suffering from diabetes as it contains ingredients disagreeable with their condition.

Good points

Bee pollen is useful in combating gastric discomfort as it can ease digestion. Bee pollen is also used as a nutritional supplement. Very little research has been done to prove or disprove the medical effects of bee pollen. It remains a tasty additive for teas and candies.
